 Netgis Server Docker Installation

This page describes the installation of standalone Netgis Server with docker. If you are going to install netgis in this way, you need to a running Netcad Base application which is also can be installed using docker.

Page Content

1 - Prepare Configuration File

Required environment variables to build Netgis Server image are:

  • DC_BASE_APPHOST : It is the host address of base applications where Netgis connects them.
  • DC_NETGIS_APPPORT :Netgis Server's port value which it operates. The default value is 80

The container is created witihin the command line, with docker run command as follows:

docker run -e DC_BASE_APPHOST=base.ip.adresi -e DC_NETGIS_APPPORT=8081 -p 8081:8081 netigma/netgis:
  • If the value of DC_NETGIS_APPPORT is different from 80, then the same port values must be used, with the DC_NETGIS_APPPORT value and the port specified in the -p parameter.
  • Base services must be running at DC_BASE_APPHOST.

For more information on docker run command

2 - Executing and Licence Validation

After command operation, when you go to the adress that Netgis Server works (e.g. http://localhost:8081), first you'll be redirected to the AuthenticationServer's homepage that is one of the base applications. Then Netgis Server's Licence Info page will open

On this page you can request your trial license by clicking the Register To Try link, and you can start using Netigis with the license code that comes to your e-mail address.

3 - Other

Advanced Settings

Other environment variables used by the Netgis Server image are listed below.

Environment VariablesDescriptionDefault Value
DC_BASE_APPPORTThe port value to which the running base application to be connected80
DC_NETGIS_APPNAMEThe value is Netgis Server's name, Application Name. (Name that is registered to the base services)Netgis Server, webgisnet

The postfixes/suffix that are going to be added to end of the base applications' names. For more info on base applications see here

e.g.: suppose that value is ABC, then ParameterServer adress will be like htpp://DC_BASE_APPHOST/ParameterServerABC

Environment variables that starts with DC_WEBCONFIG_ . e.g. DC_WEBCONFIG_LogManagerShowTrace, DC_WEBCONFIG_AuthCacheEnabled

These environment variables used for e.g. appSettings, that is in Netgis Server's web.config file. The setting value, after DC_WEBCONFIG_, the environment variable value is added to the web.config as the setting value.

Using Workspaces

To use your existing workspaces, you can import it into container using docker volume feature.

For example, you can transfer the workspaces on your computer that are under the C: \ workspaces \ folder, to netgis with the docker run command as follows:

-v C:\workpaces:C:\Util\Workspaces
docker run -e DC_BASE_APPHOST=base.ip.adress -e DC_NETGIS_APPPORT=8081 -p 8081:8081 -v C:\workpaces:C:\Util\Workspaces netigma/netgis:
