Configuration the Software to Use High-Performance Graphics

Most laptops have a graphics adapter integrated into the motherboard for the basic graphic display and a faster discrete graphics adapter for more demanding graphics tasks for optimizing battery life.

When working with graphically dense NETPROMine applications, changing the graphic adapter mid-process may cause screen and performance problems or program crashes.

In addition, the system can install the software with the lower-end video option by default and cannot switch to the high-performance GPU. Configuring the system to always use separate graphics for the software prevents these problems.

There are different ways to set up high-performance graphics depending on the video card and software/driver version. You can choose one of the following methods.

Windows 10 has the option to assign a high-performance card for this application. This setting is a high-level setting that should work regardless of which graphics card and driver in the system. This feature is not available in Windows 7.

Windows Graphics Settings

  • Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.

  • Scroll down and click Graphics settings.

  • Click Browse and then select the software. For example, for NETPROMine this would be C:/Netcad8/nc32.exe. Double-click the Nc32.exe file to add it to the list.

  • Click the application to activate the Options button (e.g. Nc32.exe application).

  • Select the High-Performance option and save then close the Settings panel.
  • Start or restart the software (if running) and review the program to confirm that the high performance device is activated.

  • Update the latest driver, (for the latest driver follow the link NVIDIA Drivers .)
  • Right-click on the NETPROMine.exe and select run with Graphics processor> Change default graphics processor

Alternative :

Right-click on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.

Manage 3D settings on the left, and then click the Program Settings tab.

  • Select a program to customize, click the menu and select the specific program like "NETPROMine". If the program is not in the menu, deselect "Show only programs available on this computer" to expand the list in the menu or click the Add button and select the software there. Also, it may be necessary to use the Browse option in the Add window to manually select the program's executable (.exe) file.
  • Select a High-performance NVIDIA processor from the drop-down menu under the "Select the preferred graphics processor for this program" option.
  • Click Apply (you may have to scroll down to see this button) and then close NVIDIA Control Panel.

AMD Radeon Software (Adrenalin 2020 Edition)

  • Update the latest driver, (for the latest driver follow the link AMD Drivers ).
  • Right-click on the desktop and select AMD Radeon Software.

  • Click the Gaming>Games tab.

  • A list of 3D games/applications currently installed and detected by Radeon Software will be displayed. Each header listed will have its own associated profile.
  • To manually add the NETPROMine software, click the three dots on the right, and then click Add Game.

  • Go to the folder where the software executable file is located and double click to add it to the list.

AMD Radeon Software (Pre-2020 Version)

    • Update the latest driver, (for the latest driver follow the link  AMD Drivers ).
    • Right-click on the desktop and select AMD Radeon Software.
    • Click the System tab and then click Switchable Graphics.
    • Find the NETCAD / NETPROMine program. Click and select "High Performance". If the program is not shown, click Running Applications and select Installed Profile Applications. Note: The lock icon next to a program means the system is locked in this setting and cannot be changed.
    • Close the AMD Radeon Settings window.

Tip: To apply the High-Performance setting to NETCAD/NETPROMine software, you may need to click the AMD icon in the system and select Graphics Profile> Optimize Image Quality.

AMD Control Panel in Pre-Versions

  • Right-click on the desktop and select Configure Switchable Graphics. If this is unavailable, select Catalyst Control Panel, then click the Power tab on the left, and then click Switchable Graphics.
  • Find the NETPROMine program in the list and select the "High-Performance" option for the program. If it's not listed, use the Browse button to manually add the program's executable (.exe) file.
  • Click the apply button.
